Oman stands as India's closest defence ally in the Gulf, with defence cooperation being a cornerstone of their strategic partnership. It is noteworthy that Oman is the first Gulf nation where all three branches of India's armed forces engage in joint exercises. Recently, both countries have collaborated on maritime security initiatives in the Indian Ocean.
Earlier this year, the 6th High-Level Meeting between the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard (ROPCG) took place in Muscat, led by ICG Director General S Paramesh and Colonel Abdul Aziz Al Jabari from ROPCG, as per the Indian Embassy's statement.
Oman serves as a strategic partner for India and plays a significant role in forums such as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League, and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). The two nations share deep geographical, historical, and cultural ties, fostering a warm and friendly relationship.
